Tests on Gran Canaria – tests of the Koloride prototype

LIFESTYLE

Since the Polish winter chill limits the duration of training, we decided to conduct fitness tests in a more friendly climate. We went to the Canary Islands, where not only the sun was waiting for us, but also a diverse area.

Bicycle friendly grande island

Let's start with the fact that Gran Canaria is a very cycling-friendly island, and we drove over 600 km in a few days. The choice of routes is huge. They reign smooth asroad pan, but there is no shortage of alternative, winding roads that are a real paradise for gravel enthusiasts.

Hello adventure!

Although we are fans of the slogan "Hello Adventure", with limited time we focused on seeing some absolute scenic and landscape tops. Fortunately, in the era of digitization, staking out a route even a moment before getting on the road is not a problem (Strava or Garminm Connect).

Serpentine uphill and rush downhill

What we remember the most is the road winding among the Canarian pines to the highest peak of the island of Pico de las Nieves, during which it is worth looking towards the amazing lunar rock Roque Nublo. And during the pit stop with a view of the green crater  after the inactive volcano Caldera de Bandama, where sheep are now grazing.

Due to the mountainous terrain of the island, we can see several zones in one ridenature, which undoubtedly adds charm to this island. In total, we climbed more than 8,000 meters of elevation. Of course, the best thing about elevations is that after a hard and long climb, we always have a brilliant bonus in the form of descents. Folding down quickly on corners and at speeds of 70 – 80 km/h is a good motivation to climb uphill again.

A bike is also a good excuse to try local cuisine.

The regular points of the rides were coffee, cookies and ice cream breaks,as well as more nutritious dishes such as Papas Arrugadas con Mojo– a ball of small, delicious potatoes cooked in uniforms served with thick salt with spicy herbal sauces and other local tapas, i.e. Spanish snacks, such as fried padrón peppers.

To sum up, the Coloride tests in the Canary Islands were a unique adventure for us.

It's a truly amazing feeling to ride a bike that has been designed by yourself. We subjected him to really harsh criticism and caught every possible gap. We were delighted. The frame geometry proved to be crucial for comfort during long journeys, and the electric assistance in the gear shifter added smoothness to the ride. Well-selected parameters and accessories. And the design, headed by the painting of the frame, whichattracted the attention of Canarian cyclists.

Now we know that Koloride bikes are ready for everything from road sprints on a smooth surface to holey and more holey gravel paths.

And for hungry technical details:

we assembled our beloved prototype on a full electric drive group SRAM apex XPRL AXS 12 row ((11-44T)
+ Coloride cycling frame;
+ Mavic Allroad Gravel SL Mavic light alloy wheels;
+ Michelin tyresPower Gravel Competition Line;
+ rigid carbon fork;
+ Fizik Argo X3 saddle;
+ Zipp Service Course 70 XPRL steering wheel.

One bike, endless experiences!
