If you don’t need it, you don’t turn the assistance on at all. That’s why many people say after their first ride: “It still feels like a gravel bike.”

Lightness that makes a difference

One of the things that surprises you most when you first encounter the e-KOLO is its weight. The complete MAHLE X20 system (motor, battery, and controller) weighs about 3.2 kg, and sample bike configurations can weigh around 11.4–13 kg. This is important because weight affects more than just the spec sheet. It translates to handling, dynamics, and the bike’s behavior even when the assist is turned off. Thanks to this, the e-KOLO retains the light and natural character of a classic gravel bike.
